Research:
Many relevant surveys have shown that the willingness to study abroad is higher with female than male students. Furthermore, student mobility is generally higher within those fields of study that contain a larger percentage of female students compared to those where the majority of students are male.
This research project is attempting to find a reason for this gender bias in study abroad; so far the question has been little researched. The study involves a look at structural conditions, personal life circumstances and motivation.
There is a blatant absence of empirical data about the situation of aging and elderly lesbian women. This project is designed to shed light on the social structures and way of life of older lesbians, on their experiences with elderly care and discrimination. Furthermore, the study intended to identify specific requirements and desires these women have for their lives in old age.
